Commercial relationships

Updated

Play Canada Slots is free to read because casino operators pay us when some readers become their customers. This page explains that arrangement in plain terms: who pays, for what, where the paid links sit and what money cannot buy here. It sits alongside our website terms, the disclaimer and the review method.

The business model in one paragraph

We join the affiliate programmes that online casinos run. Each programme gives us tracked links. When a reader follows one, registers and deposits, the operator credits that sign-up to us and later pays a fee. Depending on the programme the fee is a fixed amount per depositing player, a share of the net revenue the operator earns from that player in the months that follow, or a mix of the two. Those fees are the site's only income; we sell no paid reviews, no subscriptions and no reader data.

What it costs you

Nothing extra. The operator pays the commission out of its marketing budget, so your deposit, your bonus and your withdrawal limits stay identical whether you click our button or type the casino's address by hand. Where a programme gives us an offer that is better than the casino's public one, we say so next to it and print the terms we were given.

Where you will find paid links

  • the "Play" and "Visit casino" buttons in rankings and on review pages;
  • casino logos and names in the comparison tables and in the side column "Top casinos this month";
  • any link whose address begins with /go/ — that short address forwards you to the operator and records the click so the programme can credit it.

These links carry the attributes nofollow and sponsored. Links to regulators such as AGCO and iGaming Ontario, to ConnexOntario and the Responsible Gambling Council, to game studios and to payment providers are ordinary editorial links and earn nothing.

What the click leaves behind

Following a /go/ link sets two short-lived cookies on our domain — a redirect session called mozbiz_session and a security token called XSRF-TOKEN, gone within roughly 20 hours — and passes a click reference to the operator. Every page of the site, not only /go/, also sets mz_vid and mz_src. The cookie page explains each one.

Does commission decide the order of a list?

It should not, and here is how we keep it that way. A casino gets into a Canadian list only if it accepts Canadian players and publishes its bonus terms, payment limits and licence details. The order then follows the checks in our method — wagering multiple, deposit floor, Interac withdrawal time, registration with iGaming Ontario or the offshore licence it operates under, support and game range. A casino that pays a higher rate does not jump the queue, and one that pays nothing can still be listed if it is a useful option. We also review casinos with which we have no agreement at all.

One honest limit: we cannot list every operator on the market, and in practice most casinos in our tables do run an affiliate programme. Treat any list as a shortlist to check, not as a complete map.

Exclusive codes and featured slots

An affiliate programme may offer us a bonus code or ask for a casino to be featured at the top of a page for a month. We accept a code only if we can read its full terms and they are no worse for the player than the public offer. A featured spot is labelled as such, sits apart from the ranked list and does not change the scores in the review. We turn down requests to remove criticism, to drop a rival from a table or to describe a bonus as "no wagering" when it is not.

A note for Ontario readers

Ontario rules restrict how bonuses are advertised to people in the province. Some offers shown on this site are available only outside Ontario, and the operator decides who is eligible when you register.

Bad news gets printed too

If a partner casino delays payouts, changes terms against players or loses its registration, the review is updated and the casino can be moved down or removed — even if that ends the income from it. Partners do not see reviews before publication and cannot ask for wording to be changed.

What we ask of you

Read the operator's own terms before you deposit, keep to a budget and remember the age limit: 19+ across most provinces, 18+ in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec. If gambling stops being fun, ConnexOntario answers on 1-866-531-2600 at any hour, and our responsible gambling page lists more help.

When this page changes

We rewrite this page whenever a new kind of income is added or an old one stops; the "Updated" stamp above tells you which version you are reading.
